The ruthless gravel skins his knees, as he coughs with the dust. People stare with wide eyes, hanging jaws, and rude pointing fingers. He crawls with the dust, breathes with the dirt. Sputtering and wheezing, he arrives at school, and clambers into his seat. School begins, and when the day is over he goes back, breathing in all the dust around him. HelpHandicap to Distribute Assistive Equipment in Medical Camps

HelpHandicap Foundation is delighted to announce that it will organize medical camps for free distribution of assistive equipment to people with various disabilities in India.

The  following items will be distributed:
1. Three wheel cycles
2. Manual wheelchairs
3. Crutches (pair, small, medium & large)
4. Blind Sticks
5. Walking Sticks
6. Hearing Aids (single & double cord)

The medical/distribution camps will be held in Delhi, Amroha, Aligarh and Rampur during January and February 2009. HHF is working with heathcare professionals and a local NGO in India to make this happen.

HelpHandicap Announces Two New Initiatives in 2009

To further empower people with disabilities in India, HelpHandicap Foundation (HHF) has announced the introduction of the following 2 new programs in 2009:

1. Job Oriented Vocational Training
2. Assistive Technology (AT) for Learning Disabilities

HHF believes that the above programs will further assist people with disabilities in India; and help them become mainstream citizens and lead undiminished lifestyles.

Besides the new programs in 2009, HHF is looking forward to the implementation of Newborn Hearing Screening program and Rehabilitation Medical Camps in India this year; these programs have been announced in 2008 and earlier.

From the times long ago, his mother used to push the wheelchair on the unruly gravel roads, the long, hard way to school, just so her son could get an education. And the father, who earned little money as a mechanic, worked and tried and struggled to make money so that he could support his boy.
